The night Jesus first gave the Lord’s Supper to his disciples, washed their feet, and was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane gives us plenty of reasons to worship him together. The word “maundy” comes from a Latin word that means “command.” On that Thursday Jesus commanded his disciples to do two things: 1) Follow my example and 2) Do this (the Lord’s Supper) in remembrance of me.
In the most somber worship service of the year we celebrate Jesus’ death on the cross. His death paid for all of our sins and that’s why it’s “good.” It’s not the most pleasant of pictures to bring to mind, but it is necessary to understand the cost of our forgiveness if we are going to appreciate the glory of the resurrection.
Everyone is invited to an Easter breakfast of waffles, bacon, eggs, ham, fruit and all the fixin’s put on by the men of Living Word. After breakfast we will gather together for the greatest worship celebration of the year: the commemoration of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead!
